Awareness weeks
Members of the AHS often run annual awareness weeks, usually entitled Rationalist Week or Reason Week. These weeks seek to promote reason and critical thinking as well as raising awareness of the societies running them. Member societies are actively encouraged to hold such weeks to raise awareness of non-belief.
A short overview
Awareness weeks feature an entire week's worth of events with something going on every day, usually lasting from Monday to Friday but sometimes running slightly longer. Most feature at least ten events and some feature many more. These include talks, film screenings, debates, socials and more.

History
The first such awareness week predates the AHS itself being run in April 2007 by Leeds Atheist Society. The event was thrown together in around 6 weeks and never the less featured 15 events during the week and reached hundreds of people.
From here the event increased in size with Leeds' Rationalist Week 2008 reaching over a thousand people and featuring over 20 events throughout the week as well as spreading to other societies around the UK including Southampton who ran the first Reason Week.
